The Louwman Museum is home to the world’s oldest private collection of motor cars, compiled by two generations of the Louwman family. The museum dates back to 1934 and now comprises over 230 antique and classic motor cars. Experts regard the collection as one of the most beautiful in the world.
I have visited the Louwman Collection a few years ago already. Back then, the museum was located in Raamsdonksveer where the ‘Toyota Informatio Centre’ is also housed. Louwman is the Dutch Toyota importer. However, this collection was founded when Louwman purchased the first car in 1934: A Dodge.
This is in my opinion the most beautiful part of the museum; The main exposition hall.
When I visited this museum, a collection of rare en unique cars from different countries were exposed here.
This Tatra 87 is a unique example from the Czech Republic.
The collection also includes some midget cars.
Studebaker, Imperial, Edsel, Cadillac, DeSoto, Nash and a beautiful Kaiser-Darrin. All the American failures and icons of the 1950′s are also present.
There is a huge collection of old posters, sculptures, paintings and other artworks aswell. And not everything is related to cars. They even got an airplane inside!
Enough said. If you are really into cars and the long history behind them, you should really visit this museum.
